When you have a health problem or a disability or a chronic illness, it can seem like you're all alone – as if you live in a little bubble that sits off to the side of the "normal" world. There's a good reason you feel this way! When you look around your school or drive down the street, you might not see anyone else that looks like you, or that has the same challenges that you have. But just because you can't see them doesn't mean they're not there. People like you DO exist. You are not alone. And while no one can know exactly what you're going through, there are people here at this blog who understand bits and pieces of it.
People here know what it's like to be in pain. We know what it's like to live in a world with limited possibilities. We know what it's like to not be able to do the things that it seems like everyone else can do. And you know what? We also know that it's okay.
For us, life is not "normal" but being pushed from the path of normal by a disability or health challenge is also an opportunity. It can force you to become the person you were meant to be. How many "normal" people can say that? And how many people without chronic conditions float through their lives without ever having to take stock of who they are?
We hope this blog brings you ideas, information and inspiration to view your challenges as opportunities and to see that the lens of illness is a way to bring life into focus. It's not easy. Often it's not much fun. But through this blog, this game and this community, we hope that you can find the beauty in yourself and in your life.
